Collaboration Contest ENTRIES

October 13, 2014

I can't even begin to tell you how exciting it was to see all of these collaborations come in. Each piece is a fantastic display of parents and their children coming together to create something so beautiful. Every single one is as unique as those that made them.
A HUGE thank you to all those who participated, I can only imagine how many people will feel inspired to try this project just from looking at what you have made. I hope you enjoyed the process!

VOTING:
Take a moment to look through each collaboration and decide which one you would like to vote for. In order to vote please write the # of the piece along with the artists' names in the comment section down below.

#5
LINDA AND ALEX
"Waking up the Sun"
Medium: Paint

We took Alex to Ogunquit Beach when she was 3 and only about a year ago she drew this – her idea to put red crabs and a palm tree In Maine. It’s her and I sitting on the bench and that little squiggle is the ocean … huge sun so it must have made quite the impression and so did the birds as after we woke up the sun, the sun woke up the birds

#6
JENNIFER AND WHITNEY
"Home"
Medium: Paint

"My daughter, Whitney (age 3), was so excited about the collaboration between my son and I that she asked to
"art with" me too. She used acrylics on a separate piece of paper and we pressed it on the canvas. When it
dried, she went over it in marker creating "big trees like at Nan and Pop's house". I tried to stay with her theme
and used water colors to create a path and trees. I used acrylic paint to create the mother-daughter birds. When
I showed her this morning she beamed! She said that she wanted to call it, "Home."

 #7
LARISSA AND HELENA
"OWL"
Medium: Marker

I was having the hardest time finding anything in my daughter's artwork and she asked me what I was doing.
Then she looked at what I had in my hand and said "You can help me finish this owl!" Suddenly I saw exactly
what she was talking about and we worked on finishing it up together.

#8
DIANNE AND CLARA
"Love"
Medium: Mixed Media
My daughter took this beautiful photo of an open shell on a beach.....together we worked on it digitally
and transformed it into the beautiful image I have uploaded for you.

It takes on the appearance of a blue love heart......thus the title of the artwork is "LOVE"!

#9
JENNIFER AND ALEX
"Speak through the Storm"
Medium: Mixed Media

Working on a piece with my son, Alex (age 4), was such a connective experience. I found the work to be creative,
stirring, and magnetic. To date, our piece is one of my most favorite and meaningful projects.

We decided to call it, "Speak through the Storm" since we are both finding our voices in different ways.
Alex used acrylic paint and a plastic scraper on canvas. I followed with pen and ink, acrylic paint, oil pastels
and water colors.
